12/5/2017 0 Comments World's Okayest BrotherJust finished grocery shopping. Got all of the o-so important good stuff. Imitation Lucky Charms (Magic Stars... I believe), stocking candy and half gallon of coffee creamer. You can stop with the mental judgement. We purchase other stuff since we do have a family of four. Yes, we could probably survive on the magic of the stars alone but we try to be a little more health conscious and balanced by snagging more natural stuff like some raspberry jelly. Anyways. As my wife was putting away groceries she realized she needed a clip for one of the bags. She opened the utensil drawer and to our delight we found a bag clip interconnected to our D shaped cheese slicer.
Wait. Stop. Where am I going with this post? Well, over the last couple of years we have had full family (brother plus three, sister plus 3, parents and us 4) dinners. During the last few meals, my brother chimes in and pulls out one of his free-time entertainment pieces. He has been involved in solving these disconnect the puzzle piece and reassemble them brain teasers. They are about as fun as ripping out hang nails. Back to the above. So as my wife pulls out the cheese slicer bag clip combo it gives us a wonderful idea to submit a suggestion to one of those I"havebetterthingstodo_otherthantorture_mymind.com" game companies for it's next "Bed Bath and Beyond" collection mind riddles. Fun times. You may be shopping the world wide web right now for your next best thing. 12/5/2017 0 Comments July in ChristmasSo my wife and I were having a discussion yesterday in our bedroom. We were back and forth with details almost could be construed as an argument but it wasn't. It was just quick details shuffled around with a little bit of pep. While we were having this conversation, my daughter was in the other room changing. Keep in mind she is only 3 years old. Nobody told her to get changed or anything of the sort. Next with a hurried pace, while we were in mid stream of speaking, my daughter comes bursting into the room to say "I'm READY!". Her facial reaction was filled with complete joy and satisfaction. We turned to look at her then at each other and both started laughing to tears. For whatever reason she changed her clothes and had a bathing suit on as she finisher her exclamation with "I'm ready to go swimming!"
The moment: It's December. We live in Virginia and it's averaged 40 degrees outside. We've been wearing medium to heavy jackets outside. No one in their current mindset should be thinking pools and jumping into water. I guess my daughter was the exception. She was ready to go and nothing was going to stop her. Maybe a parent or two possibly lack of transportation. O yeah she is three once again. Can't drive. Yeah the driving thing makes sense to most I hope. So I guess she thought, well if you can have "Christmas in July" why cant you have "July in Christmas"? Who knows? This really didn't surprise my wife and I since our daughter will do crazy and wacky spontaneous things without any sort of warning. I guess maybe that's my wife's side of the family? 12/3/2017 0 Comments Sunday AfternoonSitting here on a Sunday afternoon enjoying the day. I am excited that it's getting closer to Christmas! My son and daughter are both enjoying all of the festivities leading up to the big day. One thing new that we doing as a family is interacting with an advent calendar. Each day the kids open a cardboard square that leads to a small piece of chocolate. They get so excited like there is gold under each flap. HAHA! I believe it's just as much of a hoot to my wife and I watching them open the little square and seeing their eyes light up for a 1 inch square piece of chocolate.
Here are some examples of calendars for purchase: Advent Calendars I am also excited to work with other families to help them design something for their loved ones.
